Biography 

Roberto Ravera was born in Montevideo (Uruguay) in 1955. He began his studies at the age of 9 with Odais Oroná. In 1973 he had his first proffesional degree as a guitarist.
        After that, he took guitar master classes with prestigious guitarists like: Atilio Rapat, Abel Carlevaro, and Eduardo Fernández. He accomplished piano lessons with Baranda Reyes and counterpoint with masters Guido Santórsola and Jaurés Lamarque Pons.
        In 1979 he won a M.E.C contest, (Ministerio de Educación y Cultura, the Uruguayan Ministry for Education and Culture). Later on he became a member of that Institution.
        In 1980 he was invited by The Florianópolis Chamber Orchestra in Brazil, as a special guest. There he performed many of Antonio Vivaldi´s concerts at the Itapema hotel and Electrosul.
He won the first prize at the Festival of Estudiantina International as a soloist. In october 1981 he was invited by the University of Arts of Santiago de Chile, where he performed numerous concerts.
        He also played many times in Uruguay, performing in theatres, prestigious hotels, festivals and all kind of events.
        He has recently recorded a CD with his own compositions, as well as two other CDs with other guitar players. His solo work has the support of the Spanish Embassy in Uruguay, the National Fund for Music and the Interamerican Institute for Internatioal Cooperation. Some of the CD tracks were selected by Aldo Garay (producer from Uruguay) and were included in a TV documentary on the TV Ciudad channel. This work was required by the office of Unicef in Brazil on 2001, to celebrate the International Day of Children.
        In 2008  he received the Award "Premio Ariel de Plata", for the contribution to Culture, Science and Society.
